Description

Major American record company executive (1923-1997) who served as the president of Motown Records from 1973 to 1975, and was the personal and business manager of Stevie Wonder for 10 years. In his executive roles at Motown, Abner helped guide the careers of Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, the Temptations, and the Jackson 5. DS, signed “Ewart G. Abner," one page, 8.5 x 14, July 29, 1983. William Morris Agency agreement for "Wonder Affairs, Inc., f/s/o Stevie Wonder and Black Bull" to perform at the Resorts International Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, for a series of nine concerts between September 19 and 25, 1983, for sums of $332,000 for Wonder Affairs and $78,000 for Black Bull Presentations. Signed at the conclusion in ballpoint by Abner, and countersigned by road manager Reggie Wiggins. Included is a one-page addendum and a five-page house rider, both of which are signed at the conclusion by Abner and Wiggins; the addendum relates to the personal requirements of Wonder and his team, such as a complimentary 2-bedroom suite, food, and beverages, transportation, and a booth and table; and the rider concerns various details about the concert production. In fine condition.
