American statesman (1764-1836) who helped draft the Louisiana Civil Code and served as Andrew Jackson's secretary of state. ALS signed “Edw. Livingston,” one page, 7.75 x 9, November 24, [1827]. Letter to W. P. Funand in Philadelphia, in full: "I shall not be with you until Wednesday evening when I wish you would bespeak me a bed at your house where I shall come on my arrival." Addressed on the integral leaf in Livingston's hand, and franked in the upper right, "Free, Edw. Livingston, MC." In fine condition.
