Description

British soldier (1788-1855) and 1st Baron Raglan whose failure to deliver orders with sufficient clarity caused the fateful Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava. ALS, one page, 7.5 x 9.5, December 3, 1812. Handwritten letter amidst the Peninsular War, in which the coalition of Bourbon Spain, Portugal, and the United Kingdom battled Napoleon's French Empire, concerning "the returns of killed & wounded which was intended for the Portuguese Gov't." In fine condition, with some areas of light discoloration, and paper loss to the lower left corner.
