Thurston,” one page, 5.25 x 8, Stevens Institute of Technology letterhead, September 23, 1884. Letter requesting a precision instrument, in full: "How promptly and at what price can you supply me with a pair of measuring screws…The instrument to measure to 1/4000th or 1/5000th cen. i.e. to be in metric measurement and measuring to as nearly the equivalent of 0.0001 inch as possible?" In fine condition.
