English physiologist (1850-1935) regarded as a founder of endocrinology, who discovered and demonstrated the existence of adrenaline and coined the terms 'endocrine' and 'insulin.' ALS signed “E. A. Schafer,” one page, 4.25 x 7, personal letterhead, October 26, 1894. Letter to Dr. Allchin, in part: "The plan you suggest is a charming one and we will look forward to carrying it out when you return. We were very sorry to have happened to be out when you called in the summer: in the future you must not come on the off chance of finding us at home." In fine condition.
