(Walt Disney Studios, 1940) Original production color model drawing of Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio, which shows the warmhearted insect during the 'Give a Little Whistle' sequence, holding up his hand and hat in a half-length pose that measures 6.5 x 5.5. Accomplished in graphite and colored pencil on untrimmed 12 x 10 animation paper marked and stamped in the upper section: "13" and "Model Drawing, Return to Eunice Samuels." The lower right is marked "Normal" and stamped as "Production No. 73, Seq. No. 1.6, Sc. No. 13, Cell Level 2." In fine condition, with some paper loss to right and bottom edges; the back of the sheet has been professionally laminated. Eunice E. Samuels worked in Disney's Ink and Paint Department in the late 1930s and early 1940s, likely in a supervisory role which required her to track and account for the model drawings that were essential to the production of the film.
