"I should have much pleasure in showing you my efforts at poetry in paint hoping you would recognize some kindred aspirations"

British painter and sculptor (1817-1904) associated with the Symbolist movement, famed for his allegorical works. ALS signed "G. F. Watts," one page both sides, 4.5 x 7, March 11, 1885. Handwritten letter to the English poet Roden Noel, in part: "Thank you very much for the volume of poems you so Kindly sent me, neither observations nor criticisms would be in good taste from one 'Maker' (for I hope the artist may claim to be of the fraternity)…but I may say how entirely I sympathize with the direction of thought & drift of intention. I should have much pleasure in showing you my efforts at poetry in paint hoping you would recognize some kindred aspirations." In fine condition, with mounting remnants to the reverse of the blank integral leaf.
