ALS, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.25 x 6.75, Governors Island, New York Harbor letterhead, July 5, 1911. Handwritten letter to his nephew, "Mr. N. S. Greely," in full: "I do not know that I signed that checque last night in the hurry to send it off. If I did not return it to me. I send another if the first was signed; tare [sic] the signature off this and return it to me. Hereafter do not make any purchases or hire any employees without first getting my approval. For what you agree to pay that boy from Mr. Johnson's you could hire a strong action man and the boy cannot earn half as much as a laborer. He can continue ten days longer but order him to report to your grandmother and do whatever she requires about the house and garden." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original hand-addressed mailing envelope.
