Description

Pioneer American filmmaker (1891-1975) who is best remembered for the films Destry Rides Again, The Blue Dahlia, The Sheepman, and How the West Was Won. TLS signed “Geo. E. Marshall,” one page, 8.5 x 10.75, Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation letterhead, January 23, 1936. Letter to columnist Jimmy Starr, in part: "I have been so busy trying to get 'A Message to Garcia' completed, that I have not previously had time to write and tell you how much I appreciate your picking me out of the mob as one of the 15 best directors of 1935. I know full well what a hell of a job you have on your hands with the daily and full Sunday spread, and all the pictures you have to look at. Believe me, it is greatly appreciated." In fine condition, with a small block of faint toning.
