Large flown Lunar Module "Descent Electrical DC Power" schematic page carried to the lunar surface on Apollo 16 as part of the LM Data Book, measuring 37″ x 10.5″ unfolded, signed and flight-certified in the right margin in blue felt tip, "Flown to the lunar surface aboard the Apollo 16 Lunar Module 'Orion,' April 20-23, 1972, Charlie Duke, Apollo 16 LMP." Labeled "2DES," the schematic shows the power provided by five of seven batteries flowing through the Lunar Module's various switches and electrical control assemblies. The crew would have used this schematic in the event of an emergency and to troubleshoot system problems while in flight or on the lunar surface at the Descartes Highlands. Matted and framed under UV-protective acrylic to an overall size of 45.5 x 19.5. In fine condition. Originating from LMP Duke's personal collection, this lunar surface-flown page was originally sold to benefit the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation in 2011.
Accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by Duke, in part: "This Descent Electrical DC Power schematic labeled 2DES was carried to the surface of the moon onboard the Apollo 16 Lunar Module 'Orion.' It was part of our Lunar Module Systems Data Book which we would use in the event of an emergency and to trouble shoot system problems while in-flight or on the surface."
