Description

Following the Second Sino-Japanese War, Madame Chiang thanks a reverend for "contributions towards the care of our war orphans"

TLS signed “Maling Soong Chiang,” one page, 7 x 10.5, Headquarters of the Generalissimo, China letterhead, January 12, 1946. Wonderful letter to Rev. W. B. Lee in Brazil, in part: "Your monthly contributions towards the care of our war orphans are much appreciated. You will be glad to learn that some of the children have already become self-supporting. But for the others, we are still continuing to maintain the orphanages until such time as it becomes unnecessary, or the Government takes over, as the end of hostilities has not terminated our responsibility to see that these parentless children are given a fair prospect of making their own way when they have to fend for themselves." In very good condition, with overall staining affecting appearance.
