ALS signed “G. Bernard Shaw,” one page, 3.5 x 5.5, 4 Whitehall Court letterhead, August 30, 1940. Letter to Horace Jackson, refusing to have his play Getting Married stolen by the "Jewish gentleman [Jesus Christ]." In full: "No, no. I cannot have the play 'stolen' (as the actors say) from Mrs. George by the Jewish gentleman. To do him justice he never claimed that he had borne Woman's burden. What right have you to claim it for him? So whoosh! you are in tatters in the waste paper basket." Addressed on the reverse in Shaw's hand. In fine condition, with toning from prior display.
