Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Connecticut (1721-1793) who was the only man to also sign the Articles of Association, the Articles of Confederation, and the US Constitution. Manuscript DS, signed twice, “Roger Sherman,” one page, 7.75 x 11.5, May 14, 1757. Land indenture signed by Sherman as a witness and further endorsed by him as justice of the peace, in part: "I Jonah Todd of New Milford in the County of Litchfield in the Colony of Connecticut in New England for and in consideration of the Sum of Fifty Pounds Lawful money received to my full satisfaction of David Stilson…do give grant bargain sell and confirm unto him…a Certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situate in New Milford aforesaid lying South of the north School House at the north end of Plank Swamp (so called) containing five acres." Sherman signs in the lower left as a witness, and pens an endorsement at the bottom as justice of the peace: "Personally appeared the above named Jonah Todd and acknowl'ed the above written instrument to be his free act and deed." Backed by a same-size sheet and in very good to fine condition.
