Al Worden’s pair of first edition commemorative coin sets. The first is a solid bronze proof set from The Danbury Mint entitled ‘Men In Space Series,’ containing 21 bronze coins honoring NASA's manned missions from Mercury-Redstone 3 to Apollo 11, housed in their original 12.5 x 9 presentation folder, which includes its registration certificate, numbered “B 00013,” issued to “Major Alfred M. Worden,” and a TLS from Danbury Mint director John T. Thomas, presenting the set to Worden. The second is a sterling silver proof set from The Franklin Mint entitled ‘American In Space,’ containing 24 sterling silver coins honoring 12 notable unmanned flights and 12 of the first manned flights, housed in its original 8.75 x 10.75 presentation book. In overall very good to fine condition, with notable wear, stains to the front of the Danbury folder.
