Unique original mixed media sculptural relief artwork by noted space artist Paul Van Hoeydonck, measuring approximately 27″ x 17″ x 7″, signed and inscribed on the reverse of the mount in felt tip by Van Hoeydonck, "To Al Worden, with all my gratitude, admiration, and friendship, from Paul & Marleen, Nov. 2013." Covered entirely in white paint, the central element of the work is a circular base with raised "The Universe" text, shrouded by stiffened cheesecloth and surmounted by gears, brackets, and a cluster of spheroid particles. Also includes Worden's personally-owned signed book entitled Paul Van Hoeydonck/Space Art, published by Marcel Fryns in 1969, signed and inscribed on the title page in blue felt tip (curiously assigning Worden a new surname), "To Al Halden, with all my admiration P. V. Hoeydonck, June 71, (just before the flight)." In overall fine condition.
From the collection of Apollo 15 CMP Al Worden, and accompanied by a letter of provenance from his daughter Alison (Worden) Penczak.
