Unissued partly-printed dinner invitation from the administration of President George Washington, one page, 5.75 x 3.75, circa 1790-1797. The elegant black text reads, in full: "The President of the United States and Mrs. Washington, request the Pleasure of…Company to Dine, on…next, at…o'Clock…179…An answer is requested." The location of the dinner was presumably the 'President's House' at 524 Market Street in Philadelphia, which was rented from Robert Morris. Corner-mounted, matted, and framed under UV-protective museum glass to an overall size of 16 x 14.5. In very good to fine condition, with paper loss to three corners.
