NASA Apollo-era circa 1966 SCAPE suit (Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble) from the Kennedy Space Center, consisting of well-used butyl-rubber coveralls with helmet that is marked in large numbers “886,” with additional sticker: “84 INV.” These SCAPE suits were made to be worn by those who needed to handle hypergolic propellant. The inside appears to retain portions of its original springs and hoses. Helmet also retains its NASA/KSC label inside, which is marked “152736.” In good to very good condition, with areas of rubber beginning to deteriorate, scattered wear, scuffing, and soiling, and a non-functioning zipper. This genuine NASA Apollo-era SCAPE suit is an interesting addition to any space collection.
