Description

American lawyer, bank director, and politician (1853-1921) who served the cabinets of three presidents—as attorney general (McKinley/Roosevelt) and secretary of state (Taft)—and as a senator from Pennsylvania. Vintage matte-finish 7 x 9 photo by Moffett Studio, Chicago, signed and inscribed in ink, "To Mr. John K. Stauffer, With sincere regards of Philander C. Knox, March 2, 1913.” Double-matted to an overall size of 10 x 12. In fine condition, with scattered light scuffing, and a light gouge to Knox's left shoulder.
