Description

Early pressing of the famous Bob Dylan bootleg album ‘Great White Wonder,’ with plain labels to both sides of the two discs, which bear the following matrix numbers: “G. F. 001-/2,” “G. F. 002-/2,” “G. F. 003-/2,” and “G. F. 004-/2.” Includes the original blank white gatefold cover. In very good to fine condition, with light scuffing and soiling to the covers; tears to inner sleeves; and some partial splitting to upper edges.

Containing 24 tracks of unofficially released recordings by Bob Dylan, Great White Wonder, or GWW, has earned the unique distinction of being the first notable rock bootleg album. Released in July 1969 by the Trademark of Quality label, the record was compiled from multiple sources, with sides one and three containing songs from an informal 90-minute tape that Dylan recorded in the apartment of Bonnie Beecher in Minneapolis in December 1961. Of particular interest, however, are sides two and four, which feature a miscellany of studio outtakes and ‘basement-tape’ cuts.
