Two glossy photos: an 8 x 10 full-length photo of Spillane looking rather disheveled in The Girl Hunters, signed and inscribed in blue felt tip, "Hi Matt—This is my drunk costume! Mickey Spillane"; and a 10 x 8 publicity photo for the same film, signed and inscribed in black ink, "Hi Matt, Great to say hello! Mickey Spillane." In overall very good to fine condition, with a vertical bend to the scene photo.
The 1963 crime drama The Girl Hunters was adapted from the 1962 Mickey Spillane pulp novel of the same name, the seventh novel to feature private investigator Mike Hammer, and his ninth novel at that point in his career. In the film version, Spillane himself stars as Hammer, which represents not only the first and only time Spillane played the character, but also one of the few occasions in film history in which an author of a popular literary hero has portrayed his own character.
