Prominent American industrialist (1849-1919) who served as president of U.S. Steel and assembled a world-class art collection now housed in the New York museum that bears his name. TLS signed “H. C. Frick,” one page, 8 x 10, personal letterhead, October 13, 1897. Letter to Karl Overholt in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in part: "I have yours of the 11th, and hand you herewith check for Four Hundred Dollars…It would seem to me to be prudent for you to open a bank account in some institution in Cambridge, and check on it as you need the money. I hope you will make good progress with your studies." In very good to fine condition, with overall creasing, and scattered small stains.
