Elder son (1775-1844) of Charles X of France and the last Dauphin of France from 1824 to 1830, who, due to his father's abdication during the July Revolution in 1830, was technically King of France and Navarre for less than 20 minutes; he himself abdicated, and then became the the legitimist pretender as Louis XIX until his death. Manuscript DS in French, signed “Louis Antoine,” one page, 15.5 x 9.75, February 23, 1817. Official award citation, in part: "We Louis Antoine of France…certify that under the authority given to us by the King, today, confer the Cross of the Royal and Military Order of Saint Louis on Sieur Guerin (Paul Necter), Chef d'Escadron Commanding the 2d Regiment of Cuirassiers of the Garde." Prominently signed at the conclusion in ink as Duke of Angoulême. The red wax seal affixed to the lower left is cracked but intact. In fine condition, with a bit of foxing in the lower margin and some offsetting of the red wax seal over the signature.
