Scallop-topped ship’s pass issued for the "Ship Eagle of New York, Charles Henry, master or commander…mounted with no guns, navigated with Twelve men, To Pass with her Company, Passengers, Goods and Merchandize without any hinderance, seizure or molestation, the said Schooner appearing by good testimony to belong to one or more of the Citizens of the United States." Signed at the conclusion by President James Madison, and countersigned by Secretary of State Robert Smith. The beige paper seal remains affixed to lower left corner. In fine condition.
