ALS, one page both sides, 6 x 7.75, Savoy Hotel London letterhead, July 24, 1941. Letter to "C.V.," in part: "I am terribly sorry but I do not think I can manage to come & help at the 'Rag'—I cannot promise to be there & I do hate saying I will do something & then not turning up—I don't even like 'engagements permitting'—& I really have got a lot of work to do. So will you please forgive me. There is one thing I am sure you have got wrong—I did not steal a song from you—I know I didn't!" In very good condition, with rippling and staining to the right edge, and a light water stain to the signature.
