(Walt Disney Studios, circa 1940s-1950s) Original painting by Disney background painter Art Riley inspired by Bambi, accomplished in gouache on 14 x 11 artist's board. Attractively rendered in hues of pink and purple, the scene shows a herd of deer on a riverbank alongside some ducks and ducklings. Signed in the lower right corner in paint, "Art Riley." Reverse bears Riley's address label and is stamped "The Estate of Art Riley." In fine condition.
For over 30 years, Arthur 'Art' Riley (1911-1998) was a background painter on all the Walt Disney classic animated features—including background watercolors for Cinderella, Pinocchio, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He was also a member of the California Water Color Society and American Water Color Society, and exhibited his fine art nationwide.
