American artist Walter Peregoy (1925-2015) was best known for his avant-garde style and for his work at studios such as Walt Disney Productions (1951-1964, 1974-1983), Format Films, and Hanna-Barbera (1968-1971 and 1973). One of Disney’s most innovative background artists, Peregoy and his unique style meshed well with that of his contemporary, stylist Eyvind Earle, and their work on the Academy Award-nominated short Paul Bunyan. Additionally, he served as the color stylist for 101 Dalmatians, Sword in the Stone, and the Jungle Book. His artistic impact while at Disney earned Peregoy the honor of being inducted into the Disney Legends roster in 2008.
