(Fleischer Studios, 1941) Fantastic original production cel and master production background featuring Popeye from Olive's $weep$take Ticket, which shows Popeye as he attempts to retrieve Olive Oyl’s winning sweepstakes ticket from the end of a flag pole high above the city. The cel has been trimmed and applied to a terrific hand-painted production background from the same film. Image measures 5.25 x 3.25 (Popeye and pole), with a mat opening of 15.25 x 12. Cloth-matted to an overall size of 21.25 x 18. In fine condition, with some slight lifting to paint on Popeye. Cel and background setups from early Popeye the Sailor cartoons are exceedingly rare and sought-after, with this particular example all the more desirable for its unique, particularly scenic view.
