(Hanna-Barbera, 1964) Original complete 50-page hand-drawn storyboard for the Jonny Quest cartoon The Werewolf of the Timberland, the 17th episode of the first season, which aired on January 7, 1965. The storyboard contains 50 pages and a total of 464 drawings, which amounts to roughly nine drawings per page, with the majority bearing scene notes and directions. Each storyboard page is accomplished in graphite on untrimmed 12.5 x 10.5 animation paper. The storyboard has been expertly tipped into a handsome leather-bound presentation book, 13.75 x 10.75, with gilt titling to front cover: “Hanna Barbera’s The Werewolf of The Timberland, 1956-1957”; it’s unknown why the date on the binding is several years prior to the actual production of this episode. In fine condition, with expected wear from use. In the episode, Dr. Quest, Jonny, Race, Hadji, and Bandit go up against a band of French-Canadian smugglers who mask their nefarious dealings by concocting a fake werewolf to scare off intruders. A fascinating and rare inside look at the story and animation process in the early days of Hanna-Barbera studio.
