A letter written from the State Department, in full: "For your information I transmit a copy of the reply of this Department to a note of Senor Don Ignacio Gomez, the Minister Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nicaragua, upon the subject of the good offices of the States of Central America, towards putting an end to the war between Spain on the one side and Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Chile on the other. I avail myself of this occasion to renew the assurance of my high consideration." In fine condition, with a short fold split touching Seward's first name.
