Description

Manuscript DS, signed “James Thompson, q. master, 2d Reg't In. T. V." and "Wm. Martin, Lt. Col. 2nd Reg't T. V.,” one page, 7.75 x 10.25, November 18, 1813. A "provision return for the 2d Reg't Infantry" of Tennessee Volunteers at Camp Strother, listing the number of rations for men in each company. In fine condition.

Amidst the Creek War In November 1813, General Andrew Jackson oversaw the construction of a stockade fort situated on a bluff along the Coosa River, named for his chief cartographer Captain John Strother. Davy Crockett would spend time at Fort Strother during his service in the Creek War.
