Description

Born Giulio di Giuliano de Medici in 1478, he served as pope from November 1523 until his death in 1534; the Sack of Rome and English Reformation occurred during his papacy. LS in Italian as papal vice-chancellor, signed "Vr. Giu. Vice Cancell.," one page, 8.5 x 11.5, Florence, May 11, 1522. Letter to Paolo Vettori, a commander of the papal fleets, asking his advice for a response to a letter received from Don Giovanni Emmanuel. Reverse of second integral page bears the original paper seal. In fine condition.
