TLS signed “John Kennedy,” one page, 8 x 10.5, United States Senate letterhead, June 6, 1957. Letter to Bascom N. Timmons, a White House Press correspondent who, in 1932, became President of the National Press Club. In full: "Many thanks for your letter of recent date addressed to my secretary. I certainly appreciate your thoughtfulness in writing and I want to thank you for your very kind remarks concerning my speech to the girls from Shipley School at Bryn Mawr. It was a pleasure for me to be with them and I enjoyed it very much." In fine condition, with some light creasing.
From 1912 until his death in 1987, Bascom N. Timmons covered every presidential convention. A keen politician, Kennedy was aware of his press credentials and answered the letter, notwithstanding Timmons had addressed his letter to JFK’s secretary.
