Pioneering French film director (1889-1981) best known for the silent classics J'Accuse and the six-hour historical epic Napoléon. TLS in French, one page, 8.25 x 10.5, July 11, 1939. Letter to his friends, in part: "We are finishing a treatment in Neris and will be in Paris, for a few days, on the 17th ct. then holidays, I don't know or probably in our little house in Chateauneuf de Grasse where you could one day come and surprise us in August." In fine condition.
