Attractive and uncommon 'Assistant Sergeant at Arms' badge from the 1932 Republican National Convention held at Chicago Stadium from June 14-16, 1932. Made by the Bastian Bros. Co., of Rochester, New York, the bronze-tone badge, 2″ x 1.75″, features a large Bald Eagle with spread wings over the Great Seal, two flags, and raised scroll text: "Republican National Convention, Ass't. Sgt. At-Arms, Chicago, 1932." A red-white-and-blue ribbon is suspended below with an attached medallion with austere depiction of George Washington in profile. Reverse of medallion bears the Bastian Bros. Co. maker's mark. Includes the original Bastian Bros. display sheet. In fine condition. President Herbert Hoover and Vice President Charles Custis ran unopposed at the convention and were renominated for their respective positions.
