Description

Pseudonym of Russian-born Jewish author and playwright Solomon Naumovich Rabinovich (1859-1916) whose stories about Tevye the Dairyman served as the basis for the musical Fiddler on the Roof. Rare ink signature of Sholem Aleichem in Hebrew, penned on the reverse of an off-white 5.5 x 1.75 postcard. In fine condition. A desirable signature of a man considered by many as the greatest figure of the Yiddish literary renaissance.
