Description

German naval officer (1881-1966) who earned the nickname ‘Sea Devil’ for his legendary maritime exploits during World War I. Four items signed by Luckner: a hardcover German edition of Seeteufel Erobert Amerika, lengthily signed and inscribed on the first free end page in fountain pen, and dated 1952; two postcards depicting ships, one signed on the front by Luckner with an untranslated autograph note on the reverse, and the other annotated on the front by Luckner, with a typed note signed on the reverse; and a matte-finish 5.75 x 8.25 portrait, signed and inscribed in the wide margin in fountain pen by Luckner. In very good to fine condition, with a cracked hinge to the signed book, and a heavy diagonal crease to the signed photo.
