Description

Chinese author (1915-2009) who recounted her harrowing experiences during China's Cultural Revolution in her memoir Life and Death in Shanghai. Three items: two felt tip signatures and inscriptions on off-white 5 x 3 cards, "For Randall Sutherland, With best wishes, Nien Cheng, 1988," with Chinese greetings below; and an ALS inside a 3.75 x 5 card, in part: "I am sorry I have no photo to send you. I hardly ever have my photo taken. The book cover photo belongs to the publisher. I have autographed two cards, however. I'm glad you enjoyed reading my book 'Life and Death in Shanghai'…P.S. The Chinese greeting means: Wishing you happiness." In overall fine condition, with some haloing to the text of the letter.
