American playwright and screenwriter (1905-1984) best known for such classics as The Children's Hour, The Little Foxes, and Watch on the Rhine. TLS signed “Lillian,” one page, 6.5 x 8.5, personal letterhead, February 22, 1972. Letter to Miss Leah Salisbury, in part: "In the last week I have been screaming at the NAACP, and I simply cannot find out whether the rights have been sold to Schuler-Munsel. And it turns out that in the most real sense my powers are ended. I have talked to Martin Herman, one of the NAACP lawyers, and have said that if the rights were sold in this fashion, not only would you and I have nothing to do with it, but I would send to all the trustees a letter saying that they were incapable of handling the rights of Dorothy Parker, and that I would ask you to sign such a letter with me…It is a sad story. She, of course, was not warned that this could happen to her word." In fine condition, with light speckled staining to the lower right blank area.
