Description

Israeli sculptor and experimental artist (born 1928) known for his contributions to optical and kinetic art. Group lot of six letters from Yaacov Agam, two ALSs and four TLSs, signed either “Y. Agam,” “Agam,” and “Yaacov,” six total pages, dated between 1967 and 1968. The letters are addressed to filmmaker Warren Forma, with each relating to his documentary on the Israeli artist, Possibilities of Agam. Samples of each letter: January 30, 1967: “I have an excellent sequence with sound (on a magnetic tape) taken of me in my studio by the Belgian Television. I will send it to you”; March 2, 1967: “Please be kind and write me a few words telling me the proximate date when the film might be ready”; June 15, 1967: “All the last time I was wholly devoted to several jobs on behalf of my country, and now that the situation is more or less, less dangerous I begin to think also about other things and one of the first one is about our film. Is it alreally [sic] finished with the music”; August 8, 1967: “At last I have seen your film and as I cabled you I found it very fine and subtle, it’s a good film/work and you are a fine artist”; May 11, 1967: “It is O.K. with the film for the Israeli Museum in Jerusalem…I will try to pass your film at the French Television”; and November 11, 1968, penned at the bottom of a letter to Ehub Loeb: “Dear Warren, is it possible to get some more catalogues for my film (10-15), they are very beautiful, & ‘sold’ them all.” In overall fine condition. All but one are accompanied by their original mailing envelopes, three of which are hand-addressed.
