Description

Academy Award-winning director (1889-1949) of Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Treasure Island, and Captains Courageous. ALS signed “Victor,” three pages both sides, 6 x 9.5, The Warrington letterhead, [postmarked November 10, 1922]. Letter to actress Kathleen Clifford, in part: "Day before yesterday the clerk at the Algonquin ask me if I minded moving—there was a woman coming back who had my appt. last winter and wanted it again. I told him I was quite happy where I was…Yesterday evening whenI came in I had been moved up on the next floor in a rather dirty old appt. not really moved but my luggage dumped in the rooms. I was so dam mad I could not see strait—and at 10:30 was still so dam mad that I moved out of the place. I have moved down where where Bob Kane is. We are trying to get an appt…Darling you can send my mail to Famous Players Studio…until I get an appt address…I am sick of this rotton town and if you were not coming back would quit and come west. They have me down on the list for two more Dalton pictures but don't know if I want to do them or not. She is not very interested in her work and don't give much of a damn what the result is." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Fleming's hand.
