Academy Award-winning director (1889-1949) of Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Treasure Island, and Captains Courageous. ALS signed “Victor,” three pages both sides, 6 x 9.25, Hotel Algonquin letterhead, [postmarked February 8, 1921]. Letter to actress Kathleen Clifford, in part: "I am sorry to hear that…thinks Art's second picture is such a lemon. Arthur must have felt very badly when he asked him if he had ever directed before. And he will be sore at Goldwyn for years. I hardly know what to make of the story I am going to do next. Can't make up my mind if it is any good or not. I am sorry to hear Cha's baby is sick. I do hope nothing happens to that boy—it would kill them both…Hope you adopted one of the burglar alarm systems for the little house—anything is better than nothing." In fine condition, with some light toning on the last page. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Fleming's hand.
