Description

British monarch (1630-1685) who ushered in the Restoration of 1660 and ruled until his death. Manuscript DS, signed “Charles R,” one page, 9.75 x 14.5, May 26, 1677. Document issued to Lord Chancellor Heneage Finch, directing him to "deliver up to us the Bill remayning in your hands which was prepared to have passed Our great Seale for a Grant…of the Office of Our Auditor of Our Revenue of the Excize and New Import unto Samuel Birch." Signed at the head by King Charles II and countersigned by Thomas Osborne, Lord Danby. Mounted and double-matted with two portraits to an overall size of 23.75 x 23.25. In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds, and some light creasing and soiling.
