Description

Oversized original color semi-glossy 13.75 x 10.75 NASA photo of Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt standing next to the American flag during an Apollo 17 EVA, affixed to the original 19.5 x 15.75 mount, which is signed below in black ink and felt tip by Gene Cernan, Ron Evans, and Harrison Schmitt, who adds an inscription to the upper border: “To Stretch, In deep appreciation of your friendship and sacrifices during our post flight tour, January to June 1973; although you missed the Challenger mission your influence was felt as much as your absence was regretted. The crew of Apollo XVII.” Framed to a slightly larger size. In fine condition, with some light toning.

Originates from the personal collection of longtime NASA employee Robert B. 'Stretch' Flanagan, a Senior Security Specialist who accompanied the Apollo astronauts on their post-flight goodwill world tours. He was nicknamed ‘Stretch’ on account of his 6´6″ height.
