"I thank God that Franklin did not suffer any pain"

TLS, one page, 5.25 x 6.75, black-bordered mourning letterhead with embossed presidential seal, April 20, 1945. Letter on the death of FDR, written just eight days after he passed. In part: "Many thanks to you and Betty for your letter of sympathy. It was all so sudden and unexpected. I thank God that Franklin did not suffer any pain and he would have hated a long illness." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original White House mailing envelope.
