ALS in French, signed “Renoir,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.25 x 7, March 11, 1918. Letter to the wife of the great patron and collector Maurice Gangnat, whose portrait he painted in 1916. In part (translated): "I am in the process of packing my bags to go to Marseilles where I will spend a few months and to the Rhone Valley, weather permitting. I want to take advantage of the exceptional time we have at the moment to do this fugue, which will be a variant for me and I will return to Paris without going back to Cagnes, of which I am a little tired. I am writing to you and to La Flèche so that your husband doesn't break his nose when he can't find anyone." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Renoir's hand.
