One of the famed Ringling Brothers (1863-1926) who parlayed their circus into a multimillion-dollar entertainment enterprise. DS, signed “Chas. Ringling,” one page both sides, 8.5 x 14, October 18, 1917. Artist's contract and release between Ringling Brothers World's Greatest Show and "The Castellos" for the season of 1918, describing their equestrian act: "Edith Walton to ride principal act if required. Both ladies to ride in one or two acts with other performers supplied by Ringling Bros. Edith Walton to do general clowning…Artists to supply 3 horses, costumes for principal act, jockey dresses for two ladies and tights for one additional act if required. Also suitable clown dresses for Mrs. Walton." Neatly signed at the conclusion in fountain pen by Charles Ringling. In fine condition. Accompanied by an original vintage glossy 3.25 x 6 photo of Edith Walton clowning on horseback at the Polo Grounds.
