Description

Governor of New York who lost the presidential election of 1868 to U. S. Grant (1810-1886). Partly-printed vellum DS, one page, 16.5 x 12.5, February 4, 1864. As governor of New York, Seymour appoints Charles Lyell to be "2d Lieutenant in the 13th Regiment of Cavalry." Boldly and prominently signed at the conclusion by Governor Seymour. The red seal affixed to the lower left remains fully intact. In very good to fine condition, with creases to the upper left corner.
