English essayist, poet, and antiquarian (1775-1834) best known for his Essays of Elia and for the children's book Tales from Shakespeare. ALS signed “C. Lamb,” one page, 7.5 x 5.75, no date. Letter introducing biographer Walter Wilson, in full: "My friend Wilson, the Defoe Historian, calls on you. He is one of my oldest friends left. Pray, as him to receive an Elia, and introduce him to Emma, if she be with you. You cannot be too civil to my old friend." Affixed to a same-size mount and in very good to fine condition, with a tear to the lower left corner, and light staining from mounting. Wilson's Memoirs of the Life and Times of Daniel De Foe was published in 1830.
