Hee concept model sheet drawing of several famous actors and actresses depicted in the Silly Symphony short Mother Goose Goes Hollywood, which shows caricature portrait cards of Greta Garbo, Mae West, Fred Astaire, Clark Gable, Joan Crawford, Katharine Hepburn, and the Marx Brothers. Accomplished in graphite on untrimmed 12 x 9.5 animation paper. Each character portrait approximately measures 2.25 x 3.5. In fine condition. The star-studded cartoon was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short, but lost to Disney's own Ferdinand The Bull.
T. (Thornton) Hee was an American animator, director, and teacher (1911-1988), who worked at companies like Leon Schlesinger Productions, UPA, and Terrytoons. He joined Walt Disney Animation Studios around 1937 and worked there on three separate occasions until 1961; he is most recognized for directing the ‘Dance of the Hours’ segment of Fantasia.
