One-of-a-kind original Apple watch made by Old England in 1967, with a modified 1.5″ square sterling silver 24k gold-plated bezel and crown, a 21-jewel mechanical movement, a color dial with green Apple logo and black hands, and a black suede band bearing the gold imprint on back: "Genuine Suede, Made in England, Old England, Copyright Old England, Watches LTD 1967.” The reverse of the case is engraved: “Old England.” In fine condition. This professionally upgraded, never-before-worn example of the Apple watch is much heavier than its plastic forebears. The consignor notes that the watch was obtained from an Apple employee.
These watches were only available for sale at the Apple Boutique in Chelsea during its short time in business from December 1967 to July 1968. Before it closed and everything left was given away, a group of these watches were retained by Apple and given as gifts to VIPs, friends, and family. Richard Loftus designed the watch and they were manufactured by the Accurist Watch Company. It’s estimated that no more than 200 of these watches were produced.
